Breakfast at hotel. Full Day Peninsula Tour. See for yourself how this spectacular southern tip of Africa became known as the Fairest Cape.

The tour begins with a stroll through the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Then drive past the pristine beach of Camps Bay, Clifton and Llandudno currently the hottest real estate in the world to Hout Bay, a functioning harbor and heart of the local crayfish industry (optional Seal Island cruise, time permitting).

Proceed to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and its scenic viewing point where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet (funicular ticket included). Continue along the coastline to the beautiful Boulders Beach where you can sit among a colony of penguins. Nestled in historic Simon's Town, Boulders Penguin Colony is part of the Cape Peninsula National Park. Almost 3000 African (jackass) penguins, so called because their call resembles the bray of a donkey, reign supreme amidst rounded rocks and fish-filled False Bay. These endangered, flightless birds are free to roam the seas and return to their private haven ~ Foxy Beach at Boulders.

Return to Cape Town in the afternoon.

Breakfast at hotel. Morning City and Table Mountain Tour. Ride up Table Mountain by cable car for a breathtaking view over the city and the surrounding vistas.

Then visit the city's Malay Quarter with its spicy bobotie and curry aromas filling the air. Visit the Castle, the bustling Greenmarket Square and the Waterfront.

Experience the hospitality and beauty of Stellenbosch, Paarl, Wellington, Franschhoek and Pniel. Cape Town's colorful history comes to life in the splendidly restored Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian buildings in each town. You will sample small, boutique wineries and the larger, more commercial wine estates, including a tour to the cellars. Return to Cape Town in the mid-afternoon. Dinner on own.

PRETORIUSKOP REST CAMP

which is situated in the southwestern part of the Kruger National Park. Accommodation in huts and bungalows. Spot hippos at the Metsel Dam, or visit the Albasini Ruins only a short drive away. Pretoriuskop is the oldest rest camp in the Kruger Park and holds a large population of White Rhino. The camp has a restaurant, cafeteria, bar and swimming pool. In the evening, enjoy a documentary video on wildlife and conservation. Dinner on own.

Breakfast at the hotel. Early morning Safari Game Drive in the Park with an opportunity to spot the BIG 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, hippo)! Your game ranger guides take you into South Africa's largest and most famous game reserve, the Kruger National Park, in specially modified open safari vehicles. This incredible expanse of wilderness is unrivalled in its variety of wildlife, and on this tour, you can be sure to see a great many of them. Balance of day at leisure, except for a brief site inspection of where the race will take place on Sunday. Pasta Loading Dinner at your Rest Camp this evening. Plan to tuck in early!

Sat 14Aug In the Kruger Park. RACE DAY!

Coffee and juices and light breakfast items at the Rest Camp. THIS IS YOUR DAY! Early this morning wake-up call for short drive to the start location inside the Park.
0830 Start of the Kruger Park Half Marathon/Quarter Marathon. Water stations provided every 3kms. The race will take competitors on a route through the Skukuza staff village which is not fenced off from the rest of the Kruger Park. The area will be combed by game rangers before and patrolled during the race for the presence of potentially dangerous wild animals. What a thrill ~ to run in an official Wild Animal Park. Every runner who completes the Half within 2_ hours will be awarded a medal and badge. Mid-day drive back to your Rest Camp, feeling exhausted & yet, triumphant!
